Horse Riding

Horse riding is another fun way to see the Daintree region. You can take a ride across the pristine beaches of the Daintree Coast or along rainforest trails with freshwater swimming holes. Some horse riding tours will even pick you up from wherever you’re staying. Just let them know what riding experience you have – it is important to be matched to a suitable horse otherwise it can lead to dangerous situations.

The beginner level includes those who have never ridden a horse, those who have ridden a horse less than 30 times, or those who are not confident trotting or controlling a horse. An intermediate rider is one who has a bit of riding experience and is confident controlling the horse. Advanced riders are confident in every aspect of riding, have several years experience and continue to ride frequently. Horse riding lessons are also available for those who like to improve their riding skills.

Just remember to wear comfortable clothing, including long pants and closed in shoes. Most riding tours will provide riders with helmets, and sometimes riding boots as well.

What is a resort?

Resorts are a type of accommodation that is meant to be all inclusive, and are often established around a local attraction. This could range from a golf course to the beach, theme parks, snow fields, lakes, rainforests, and so on. Heritage Lodge is a resort located in the Daintree Rainforest area, between two of Australia’s great natural Heritage Listed sites- the Daintree Rainforest and the Great Barrier Reef. This resort offers lodgings featuring air-conditioning and fully screened windows opening directly onto the rainforest, DVD players, ensuites and private access  to crystal clear swimming holes. It also contains a licensed restaurant, the Bundaleer, which provides breakfast, lunch and dinner in the midst of the trees. From Heritage Lodge, guests can explore the rainforest with guided walks, 4WD safaris, kayaking adventures and crocodile cruises.

The resort also has a day spa on site, Spa Orania, with offers a range of massage and beauty treatments. The experienced staff will consult with guests to determine the best treatment, which could include anything from a body scrub and facial, to a range of massages such as Swedish Massage, Deep Tissue Massage, Reflexology Massages, Sports Massage and Reiki Massages. Other beauty treatments include skin brushing, herbal mud wraps, skin brushing and cellulite shakers.
